GDEX 2026 Presentation: AI-based Level Design: The Myth and the Reality in getting it to Work
You have seen the headlines: "I created a game using AI", " 10 AIs WORK TOGETHER to Make GTA From Scratch", Anyone Can Make Amazing Games Now (Easy)"! I will show you what you get from these prompts (briefly), analyze what is good and bad about them and then show you a pipeline for better level design. This process will use YOUR existing art, YOUR existing high-quality code and help with some of the mundane tasks in creating a level or suggest variants that improve your level design skills. This talk is for anyone interested in level design, programmers and artists alike. I will end the talk with suggestions and discourse on how to most effectively use AI with crowd participation and ideas.
