Our goal with GDEX was to create a platform for Game Developers to showcase to a broader audience and have a chance to get feedback, build a community, and find new fans for their games and projects. Now we want to help extend that platform to the amazing Art Communities as well.

About GDEX

GDEX is the convention dedicated to a love of games and creative technology, located in Columbus, Ohio. GDEX started in 2013 as a way for the local gamedev community to showcase their projects, and has since grown into the predominant event celebrating all things gaming in Ohio. GDEX features a weekend expo showcase, combined with presentation sessions, vendor areas, raffles, tournaments, and Charity events benefiting Extra Life and AbleGamers. The GDEX expo is a curated showcase of some of the most exciting up and coming developers so that you can see the latest games before anyone else!

GDEX 2017 will be September 29 – October 1st at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus Ohio with an expected attendance of 5,000+ from across the country.

FAQ

I've Sent in My Application! Now What?

Applications are accepted on a rolling process, with priority given to those who apply earlier. After submitting an application, you can expect to hear back from a GDEX Representative within a month.

What Does an Artist Space Include?

The Artist Space is a 5’x6′ space within the Artist Alley. Each space comes with a 6’x2′ table, 1 Exhibitor Pass, and 1 Chair.

Exhibitor Passes act as a weekend pass to the event, allowing entry to the Show Floor and any of the presentations during the Expo. The Exhibitor Pass also grants you access into the annual Exhibitor Mixer. Taking place on Saturday after the Show Floor closes, the Exhibitor Mixer is a congratulations and thank you to all of our Exhibitors. Food and a drink ticket are included with your pass.

An extra Exhibitor Pass can be purchased from the GDEX 2017 Exhibitor Portal after you have purchased your space.

What's An Exhibitor Badge?

What Happens When I'm Accepted?

After your application is accepted by the GDEX Team, you will receive an Email from our Exhibitor Platform, GrowTix, with a link to your Exhibitor Portal. You will then have 30 days to purchase your booth space or make a deposit on your space (detailed below).

How Does the Space Deposit System Work?

GDEX 2017 allows for a Space Deposit of 20% to secure your space if you don’t have the cash on hand at the time of your application acceptance. After you have paid the initial deposit of 20%, you will be given an additional 30 days to finish your payment.

I've Paid for My Booth, Now What?

Once your Payment or Deposit has gone through, you will be reached out to by your GDEX Representative to get information to put you up on the GDEX website.

You may also need to coordinate with the Convention Center to setup plans for Power or Internet. If this is something that you will need, you can get more information at www.thegdex.com/exhibitors/info

What is GDEX's Cancellation Policy?

Artists will have up until 30 days before the event (8/30/2017) to cancel and receive a refund. After that point, refunds will not be possible. Once an artist has cancelled, their booth is forfeited to the next person on the waitlist.

If you think you may need a refund, reach out to your GDEX representative as soon as possible to ensure that everything can be taken care of.

When Does the Floor Open for Me to Setup?

The Show floor opens to Exhibitors and Artists an hour before the show on both Saturday and Sunday to allow for preparation and restocking. Exhibitors are expected to be ready to present 15 minutes before the floor opens on both days.

I Want to Split My Booth! How Do I Do that?

Unfortunately, GDEX does not allow table splitting for ISE Spaces or Artist Spaces in 2017. However, we are working on making this a part of the process in future events!

This is a quick overview of Artist Alley Related Terms and Conditions. For more information about general Show Floor Terms and Conditions, please visit our Terms and Conditions or Show Conduct Pages

  • NSFW art is allowed, but this is a family-friendly event. If your work is 18+ or your grandmother would be uncomfortable showing it to her friends, make sure it isn’t immediately visible.
    • This could mean putting it in a book, hiding it behind other SFW art, or making note that you have it and providing it upon request. When in doubt, ask.  
  • GDEX isn’t responsible for any of the legal ramifications of the art you’re selling.
  • Sexist, racist, transphobic, ableist, or other discriminatory language, art, and behavior will not be tolerated in the Artist Alley or anywhere else in the expo.

We want everyone to feel comfortable in the Artist Alley. If an attendee, artist, or anyone else makes you feel uncomfortable or seems to be violating any rules, contact a GDEX volunteer.
